The cabinet exhibition “Taktvoll – Vom Salon zur Musikschule” (February 2 to August 17, 2025 at Posterstein Castle) provides insights into the history of music and music learning from the time of the historic salons to the music school. It can be actively shaped by adding personal memorabilia and experiences.

Contemporary witnesses report on the Löbichau salon of the Duchess of Courland: great tolerance was maintained there, political discussions were held, there was played theater and made music together. Some pieces of music dedicated to the Duchess have been preserved. Musicians from the Altenburger Land music school have set them to music for the exhibition.

However, we don’t want to dwell on the past, but take the idea of the salon into the present and the future. We therefore invite everyone to enrich the exhibition with their own memorabilia and thoughts. This online exhibition brings everything together in order to preserve today’s view of music and music learning for future generations.

The special exhibition is accompanied by an extensive program. The project is a collaboration between Museum Burg Posterstein and the Altenburger Land music school.
