Project Europe is failing fast – let’s look at project Earth
I feel a citizen of the world and a resident of wherever I am.
Europe wasn’t important when I was young and lived in a small village in Poland, or later when I moved to Northern Ireland. My life was always impacted by either local or global issues and not confined to a concept of Europe. First it was economic survival in a small village in socialist Poland and then the violent and dangerous climate in Belfast.
Then, as now, the idea of Europe didn’t and doesn’t mean much to me, nor influence my everyday life. Currently, I feel we face bigger issues than “Identifying what Europe means for me?”
With wars still raging and mass migration as well as huge environmental pressures, topic Europe should be taken off the agenda. We should concentrate on the Earth that we inhabit and share with others, no matter what continent we live on, or political/economic union we belong to.
I am a citizen of the world. Project Europe is failing fast – let’s look at project Earth.
