European salon history has been of interest for the Museum Burg Posterstein since 1991. Part of the permanent exhibition is dedicated to the famous salon at Löbichau Castle around 1800. There the Duchess Anna Dorothea of Courland welcomed guests from all over Europe. We are in the time between the French Revolution and the Congress of Vienna.
With new event formats and exhibitions, the museum team aims to bring the salon concept into the present day.
In addition, special exhibitions on the topic are held regularly, and the museum blog and podcast “LeseZEIT auf Burg Posterstein” (Reading Time at Posterstein Castle) also focus on this period on a regular basis.
A “European Center for Salon Culture” is currently being created in the castle’s new north wing.
